Invasione degli ultracorpi: una mostra dedicata al rapporto sempre più complicato della nostra società con la pervadente tecnologia.

Ci pensate mai a quanto la nostra società sia cambiata in questi ultimi 100 anni? Tutta la tecnologia che ci semplifica la vita e ci sostituisce nelle attività di tutti i giorni, 60 anni fa in molti casi non esisteva.

Per lavare esiste la lavatrice, se abbiamo poco tempo e la casa umida c’è l’asciugatrice; in caso di cene multi-parentali c’è la lavastoviglie e per i pavimenti c’è la scopa elettrica. Per ogni esigenza uno strumento: tutti pensati per rispondere al sempre meno tempo a disposizione delle persone.

Do you ever think about how our society has changed in these past 100 years? All the technology that simplify our lives and replace us in our every day activities, 60 years ago in many cases did not exist.

To wash there is a washing machine, if you have limited time and a wet house there is the dryer; in the case of multi-parent dinners there is the  dishwasher and for the floors there is a vacuum cleaner. For every need there is a tool: all built to respond to the increasingly less time available of people.

L’INVASIONE DEGLI ULTRACORPI A MILANO

Da questa riflessione prende spunto la mostra “Cucine e ultracorpi”, ospitata presso la Triennale di Milano fino al 21 febbraio 2016 ed ideata in occasione dell’Expo 2015.

La mostra è a cura di Germano Celant con messa in scena a cura di Italo Rota e progetto grafico di Irma Boom. Prende spunto dal libro di fantascienza “L’invasione degli Ultracorpi” scritto da Jack Finney nel ’55 e dall’omonimo film girato da Don Siegel.

Nel film e nel libro gli alieni si insinuano e confondono tra gli umani diventando attuatori di una rivoluzione interna; nella mostra gli utensili da cucina si sono inesorabilmente trasformati in automi, sempre più diffusi e accettati nella società.

From this reflection inspired the exhibition “Kitchen & Body Snatchers”, hosted at the Triennale in Milan until February 21 2016, created for the Expo 2015.

The exhibition is curated by Germano Celant, with start-up by the scene of Italo Rota and graphic design by Irma Boom. It is inspired by the science fiction book “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” by Jack Finney wrote in ’55 and from the film directed by Don Siegel.

As well as in the film and in the book the aliens creep and confuse among humans, become actuators of an internal revolution, so the cooking utensils were inexorably turned into automatons, increasingly widespread and accepted in society.

 

L’esposizione mette in relazione gli utensili con i quattro elementi e i sensi. Il viaggio comincia passando attraverso un tunnel in cui suoni e allarmi ci sorprendono e spaventano. Questo a ricordarci quanto in realtà la sfera domestica sia pericolosa: tutti i giorni incidenti anche mortali avvengono tra le mura di casa e soprattutto in cucina.

Passato il tunnel, è il turno del freddo e dell’acqua affrontato con un sfilata di frigoriferi di ogni forma, età e colore e si passa dalla serie il Milione di Ignis del ’62 al prototipo di frigo-lavagna Chalk Chalk di Ardo.

The exhibition brings together the tools with the four elements and the senses. The journey begins passing through a tunnel in which sounds and alarms surprise us, and scare. This to remind us how in reality the domestic sphere is dangerous: every day even fatal accidents occur within the walls of the house and especially in the kitchen.

After the tunnel, it is the turn of the cold and water dealt with a parade of refrigerators of all shapes, ages and color and it goes from the series Il Milione of Ignis of ’62 to the chalk fridge prototype Chalk Chalk by Ardo.

La seconda parte è dedicata al fuoco e al caldo, con i blocchi cottura della cucina composti in un blocco astratto.

Si continua con la terra intesa come il bisogno sempre maggiore di smaltire e riciclare i rifiuti organici. Il 30% degli scarti domestici è rappresentato dall’umido e sempre più designer e aziende cercano soluzioni concrete a questo problema; un esempio sono le compostiere domestiche di Gabriele Fiocco e del Gruppo Sartori Ambiente, prodotte con materiali di riciclo.

The second part is dedicated to fire and hot, with cooking blocks composed in an abstract block.

It continues with the earth understood as the increasing need to dispose and recycle organic waste. 30% of domestic waste is represented by damp and more and more designers and companies seek practical solutions to this problem; an example is the home composting by Gabriele Sartori and Gruppo Sartori Ambiente, produced from recycled materials.

INVASIONE DEGLI ULTRACORPI E UDITO, TATTO E OLFATTO

L’udito è attratto da un’orchestra che esegue una strana sinfonia coni suoni creati da piccoli elettrodomestici che troviamo tutti i giorni in cucina e di cui non ci rendiamo più conto del rumore che producono.

Nella sezione successiva si parla di aria come un groviglio di tubi che pende sopra le teste mentre si osservano cappe dalle forme minimal e moderne.

La parte del tatto è esaminata attraverso gli elettrodomestici a lama sia nella loro interezza che dissezionati.

Per l’olfatto cosa meglio del caffè: un’esposizione di oltre 100 macchine del caffè che faranno venire la lacrimuccia ai più nostalgici.

Hearing is attracted by an orchestra that performs a strange symphony: all sounds created by small appliances that we find every day in the kitchen and of which we are so accustomed to not make us more aware of all the noise they produce.

In the next section we talk about air: a tangle of tubes hanging over the heads while you observe hoods in minimal and modern forms.

The part of touch is examined through the blade appliances in their entirety but also dissected.

To smell what better than coffee: an exhibition of over 100 coffee machines that will be the tear to the more nostalgic.

Una mostra interessante dal punto di vista culturale ma soprattutto emozionante, coinvolgente e capace di ribaltare il punto di vista su oggetti così massicciamente presenti nelle nostre vite da non riuscire più a ricordare che si tratta di utensili inventati e sviluppati da noi.

An interesting exhibition from a cultural point of view but also exciting, engaging and able to overturn the view of objects so massively present in our lives that they are unable to remember that these are tools invented and developed by us.
