L’hotel citizenM a New York è un mix di design e arte, per delle notti uniche. Due hotel dove godere della città delle luci, dall’alto del bar panoramico.

Una città che vorrei vedere?

New York, con le sue luci e le sue contraddizioni. Ma dove passare le notti?

CitizenM è una catena internazionale di alberghi a cura dello studio Concrete di Amsterdam.

L’idea è nata e cominciata nel 2008 quando il primo Hotel della serie ha aperto allo Schiphol Airport. A questo ne sono seguiti altri 4 e l’ultimo ad Aprile dell’anno scorso, nel cuore di New York.

Let’s start the week thinking about the next trip we’ll do; when I discovered this Hotel, it has come in me even more desire to go to the frantic New York.

CitizenM is an international chain of hotels, designed by interior architecture studio Concrete in Amsterdam. Idea was born and started in 2008 when the first Hotel of the series has opened to Schiphol Airport. To this others 4 are followed and the last of it in April of last year, in the heart in New York.

HOTEL CITIZENM A NEW YORK, UN’OPERA D’ARTE A CIELO APERTO

Siamo nel quartiere del teatro e delle luci, vicino a Broadway e non lontani da Times Square. La vita qui non si ferma mai, neanche di notte.

Da qui l’ispirazione: trovare un modo per “catturare” le luci e i mille stimoli circostanti per attrarre cittadini e visitatori.

Il grattacielo ha 22 piani di cui i primi 2 leggermente arretrati rispetto al fronte strada e dedicati ad un grande “soggiorno” a doppia altezza che estende la vita cittadina nell’hotel.

We are in the theater and light district, very close to Broadway and to Times Square, where life never stops, even at night. From this inspiration starts: find a way for “to capture” lights and the thousand surrounding stimuli to attract citizens and visitors.

The skyscraper has 22 floor and the first 2 are slightly behind the front road and they are devoted to a great double height living room that extends the external city life in the hotel.

Se ti trovassi a passeggiare per la West 50th street noteresti subito la grande tettoia con le luci rosse che vi guidano all’interno dell’Hotel.

Vedresti una grande libreria piena di oggetti di ogni colore e dimensione e ti verrebbe voglia di entrare, anche solo per capire di che posto si tratta.

Una volta all’interno questo grande “salotto” ti darebbe il benvenuto con tante piccole isole in cui sedersi a chiacchierare. L’immensa libreria continua dentro e ci sono opere d’arte in ogni dove; all’esterno il quadro di Jen Lui “Come on come all” che riassume tutto ciò che c’è a Times Square.

All’interno dal grande blocco di granito nero dell’ascensore emergono queste sagome di figure che camminano, in foglia d’oro, ad opera di Julian Opie.

If you found yourself walking for the West 50th street you would immediately notice the great canopy with red lights that drive you inside the hotel.

Once inside this large “living room” would welcome you with many small islands where you can sit and chat. The immense bookshop continues inside and there are works of art everywhere; on the outside the picture of Jen Lui “Come on come all” which sums up everything in Times Square.

On the inside from the elevator block in black granite it emerge these outlines of walking people, in gold leaf by Julian Opie.

Un luogo eclettico ed urbano in cui si concentrano tutte le attività più importanti: mangiare, incontrarsi, lavorare e giocare.

Per ultime ma non per importanza le camere. 14 m² di lusso dove trovano posto solo gli elementi essenziali come un grande letto matrimoniale incorniciato dalla finestra e una grande doccia ad effetto pioggia.

Il tocco finale? Il Tablet che ti da pieno controllo della stanza: dal colore all’intensità delle luci, alle opere d’arte che volete vedere sulle vostre pareti.

An eclectic and strongly urban place in which they assemble all the most important activities: eating, meeting, working and playing.

Last but not least guest rooms: 14 m²s of luxury where they find only place the essential elements; a great matrimonial bed framed by the window and a great shower rain effect.

Final touch? The tablet for the room full control: from the color to the intensity of the lights, to the works of art that you want to see on your walls.
